South Conway County School District Superintendent Shawn Halbrook has announced the second class that will be inducted into the South Conway County School District Hall of Distinction at an awards banquet in the Devil Dog Arena 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20. Their names will be added to the display located in the foyer of Devil Dog Arena.

Halbrook said this awards banquet, and last year’s, is the result of a five-year goal of the district that included establishing a committee to select local graduates, alumni or people who have done great things for the school district in the field of education.

The committee includes; Tommy Huett, president, Robert Toney, vice president and Patti Hill, secretary. Other members are Halbrook, Lori Hendrix, associate superintendent, Trent Tipton, athletic director, and community members Larry Miller, Robert Garrett, Elaine Sullivan, Tommy Johnson, Blake Wright and Jim Huffman.

This year’s inductees are Ronnie Williams, Woodson Dubois Walker, Thomas “TJ” Johnson, Deloyte Bean, Clyde Garrett, Bill Lee, Lencola Sullivan-Verseveldt, Mobley Contractors (Ronnie and Janice Mobley), Koontz Electric (Benny Koontz & Family), Robert “RG” Garrett, Katherine Foust, the 1973 Morrilton Boys Basketball Team (coached by John Widner) and the 1972 Menifee Boys Basketball Team (coached by Eddie Boone).

“We have set a wide net to be all inclusive in an effort to recognize all those who have made a great impact,” Halbrook added.

He said the inductees also include the former Menifee Mustangs and Plumerville Bulldogs. “They are a part of the district as well,” Halbrook said.

Huett, who serves as the committee president and emcees the banquet program, said, “We are excited to announce this second class, and encourage everyone to purchase a ticket and come to the awards banquet where you will be served a great dinner and hear the story behind each inductee as they are presented an award marking their distinction.”

The banquet will also feature the Morrilton Devil Dog Choir.

Tickets are available for $30 and can be purchased at the Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce, South Conway County School District Athletic Office (Devil Dog Arena), Plumerville City Hall and Menifee City Hall.
